My name is Tracy Rex and to give you a
little background about myself, my educational
qualifications include a PGCE in Further Education, an MA in American Studies, a
BA (hons) in American Studies and History and I am currently working on my PhD
in American Studies at the University of Wales, Swansea.
I have also completed the Premier i-to-i TEFL Diploma, with two additional
specialist certificates: 'Grammar' and 'Teaching Business English'; and I am currently
completing the Maple Academy Professional Proofreading and Editing Diploma.
I have previously worked as a
university lecturer in a number of Welsh universities; lecturing in the subjects
of history, American studies, international politics, English literature,
English language and popular culture to both undergraduates and adult learners.
I have also taught English as a second language to international students in the
University of Wales Institute Cardiff and through
Pueblos Ingles in Spain; teaching
English as to Spanish business people.
I
have also worked as a professional proofreader and editor for two years, working
with documents from 1500-250,000 words in length, for students, academics,
publishers, writers, small businesses and charities.
In addition I am in the process of developing my writing career, I am working on a few
articles and book reviews for various magazines and journals. You can see
the development of some of my work on New York in the American Civil War on the
'Civil War' page of this website.
I am a member of the
Society for Editors and Proofreaders,
The Vale Women's Business Network
and Women at Work.
My
experience has
given me an
excellent knowledge of correcting written and spoken English, and has allowed me
to teach using a wide variety of methods and practices, and with a very varied
student group from age 6-75.
I am currently
based in Barry, South Wales, but my e-mail service allows me to work for clients
all over the world
